Because beautiful face painting should always be safe face painting.

When you hire a face painter, you’re trusting someone to apply products directly to your child’s skin. While most people focus on the finished design, safety, sanitation, and product quality are equally important.

At The Balloon Chick, I believe parents and event organizers deserve complete transparency about the products used, the hygiene standards followed, and the steps taken to keep every guest safe.

Professional Products Matter

Not all face paints are created equal.

I use professional GTX Face Paint products specifically designed for cosmetic use on the skin. These products are formulated for face and body art and are intended to be safely removed without harsh scrubbing.

I maintain current Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for products used in my kit and can provide product information upon request.

My Hygiene Standards

Every event follows strict sanitation procedures designed to minimize the risk of cross-contamination.

Individual Sponge Policy

A fresh sponge is used for each child.

Sponges are never shared between guests.

Brush Care

Brushes are cleaned and sanitized regularly and maintained according to professional face painting hygiene practices.

Water Management

Water is monitored and changed regularly throughout events to maintain cleanliness.

Clean Workstation

All supplies, containers, brushes, paints, and equipment are cleaned and organized before and after every booking.

Hand Hygiene

Hand sanitizer is used regularly throughout events, and good hygiene practices are followed at all times.

When I Will Not Paint

For the safety of all guests, I cannot paint over:

• Open cuts or wounds
• Active cold sores
• Rashes
• Skin infections
• Sunburned skin
• Any area showing signs of irritation or possible contagion

I reserve the right to decline face painting when it may not be in the best interest of the guest’s health or safety.

Fully Insured

I carry professional liability insurance for added peace of mind for families, schools, organizations, and event hosts.

Proof of insurance can be provided upon request.

Questions Every Parent Should Ask Before Hiring a Face Painter

I encourage parents and event organizers to ask these questions of any face painter they are considering:

What products do you use?

A professional artist should be able to identify every product in their kit.

Are the products intended for cosmetic use?

Only cosmetic-grade face and body art products should be used on skin.

Do you have Safety Data Sheets available?

Professional artists should know where to access safety information for their products.

Do you use a fresh sponge for each child?

This is one of the most important questions you can ask.

What sanitation procedures do you follow?

Every professional should have a clear answer.

Are you insured?

Insurance demonstrates professionalism and protects everyone involved.

Will you paint over rashes, cuts, or irritated skin?

The answer should always be no.
